I love how this card features some of the beautiful Sentimental Christmas patterned paper. In fact, this card is a celebration of many things from the new Sept-Dec Mini Catalog. The stamp and die bundle immediately made it on my wish list, and I’m so happy that I bought it. There are some fantastic Holiday/Winter greetings and the coordinating dies are very cool. I can see using them over and over in ways that let patterned paper be the star of the show. For this card, I think the font on the greeting matches the vibe from the Sentimental Christmas paper.
Let me talk a little bit about the Sentimental Christmas paper. Stampin’ Up! is once again having the “Making a Difference” program. For every pack of the Sentimental Christmas paper that are sold, the company will donate $3 to organizations around the world that support children’s literacy. It’s a really cool program, and it’s a fantastic way to enjoy some gorgeous paper AND support a great cause!
I also want to describe how I made the sentiment diecut for the card. First I diecut a piece of Poppy Parade cardstock. Then I stamped the greeting in Pecan Pie ink and diecut with the same die. I used my paper snips to cut out the stamped center of the diecut. I was inspired to do this by one of the samples in the catalog. It’s easy to do, and it adds some interesting possibilities with this stamp & die bundle.
This current challenge was the inspiration for my design. I think that a Christmas card is a little surprising (maybe) given the inspiration images for the challenge. But that’s part of the great things about challenges – it’s for inspiration, not hard and fast rules. And my striped pattern paper certainly fits the “Stripes” option for the challenge. I had a lot of fun with this, and I hope you like it, too!
A perfectly fine way to incorporate your stripes Andrea – the retro papers give your Christmas card an almost vintage feel. Thanks for joining in with my spots and stripes challenge over at The Paper Players this week!
Thanks so much Joanne – your challenge was a lot of fun!
Great way to use that gorgeous DSP. I love the retro feel of your card and the double layered sentiment. So glad you shared this beauty with us at The Paper Players this week

Thanks so much Jaydee – your brought a smile to my day!
What a beautiful Christmas card, Andrea! The retro look takes me back many, many years and I love seeing it. Brilliant work fussy cutting the sentiment label too, it looks wonderful. Thanks so much for joining us at The Paper Players this week!
Thanks so much Stef – your kind words brightened my day!
This is a great way to show off the stripes. They contrast well with the small Christmas design and I love the whole retro feel of the papers. You’re right about the font of the sentiment matching in with that vibe too. Seems strange to see Christmas cards already (even though I’ve been making them) but the season will quickly be upon us. Thanks for sharing with us at The Paper Players.
Thanks so much Jan – I really enjoyed the challenge and I appreciate your kind words.
