This is the card design that I made a batch of for the July birthdays for the church card ministry. I pulled out some retired patterned paper that I wanted to use and I had a lot of fun with it. The Texture Chic Specialty paper has some beautiful designs that seemed just right for a summer time card. This one uses paper that has seashells on it, which screams summer to me. I also used a couple of other papers since I needed a large batch of cards.

The Annual Catalog this year is very different than in the past. The layout is very different and I confess that it is taking me some time to get used to it. I do miss the full-size images of the stamp sets that we’ve had in the past. However there are a couple of new things in the catalog that I absolutely LOVE. One of them is the addition of sketches! You know that I’m a sketch gal, and I use them frequently to design my cards. Well there are a bunch of them on page 22 of the catalog and sprinkled throughout on various pages.

This sketch is the top-right sketch on page 22 and it was the inspiration for my card design. I love a grid layout, and this one spoke to me right away. It is a great way to showcase some pretty patterned paper, and I am quite happy with how it turned out.

Here are the cutting dimensions if you want to replicate the card design that I made:

  • Basic White Thick card base: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Pebbled Path mat: 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Gray Granite greeting: 1 1/4″ x 2 3/4″, stamped and then diecut
  • Patterned paper: 5″ x 1 7/8″ (2 pieces), cut into 1 7/8″ x 1 7/8″ and 3 1/8″ x 1 7/8″

I hope this will inspire you to try out this card design and have fun with some pretty paper that you’ve got stashed away!
