A while ago I created a card for a gift certificate that featured a glossy looking diecut word, and the recipient was very curious how in the world I created that. I learned the trick from the interwebz, and I decided to show the South Burlington stamp club group the “secret”. I don’t want to give it away yet because my second stamp club will be learning the secret as well. I’ll descibe in detail when I share their project here.

I used this current sketch challenge as the inspiration for my card layout. I like how the action is clustered at the bottom, which gives some white space above so that the design isn’t overwhelming to the eye. I was also glad to add some of the glittery enamel dots to add a bit of “whimsy” to the finished card.

There are some lovely products from the Annual catalog that I used for this card. The stamps are a great host reward option, and this is the first time that I inked the set up. I will confess that I did find it a little challenging to line up the black outline stamps with the filled-in stamped image. A couple of my birds here aren’t lined up perfectly, and I still think it looks ok. I also used those glittery dots for the first time. I’m in love!!! They are so gorgeous, and they add a nice touch to finish off a project. Check them out in the embellishments section.
