they're so fun
I participated in a demonstrator card swap that featured new items from the Spring mini catalog. I signed up for the Wishes Your Way stamp set, and created two separate cards using that set and the new Pinwheel die. This card is a versatile greeting for a person of any gender that is celebrating a birthday or something else that deserves "wishes". I made the pinwheels out of different patterns of the Print Poetry patterned paper, and I loved the combination of those with the embossed chevron design in the background. I could totally see sending this as a greeting to one of my guy friends as well as a gal.
When I first started, I was pretty frustrated with assembling the pinwheels. The die cuts them wonderfully with little holes in each of the 4 wings and in the center, but I was having a tough time lining them all up and getting a brad inserted to hold it all together. Thankfully, my wonderful husband came to my aid, and figured out an easy way to put these together. He retrieved a 16 gauge IV needle from a rescue kit (he volunteers as an EMT) and dulled the end a bit so I wouldn't pierce myself. I insert the needle from the back of the pinwheel, and stack the holes of the wings onto the needle rotating around. Then I insert the brad into the end of the needle from the front, pushing the ends through to the back side of the pinwheel, which backs out the IV needle. Voilà! Perfect, and easy, assembly of the pinwheel every time. Thanks honey for all the help!
