I created a large batch of this card design for the March birthdays for the card ministry at our church. I looked for a past sketch and found one that seemed perfect for mass production. I love how this layout is great for showcasing some interesting patterned paper. For this month I used some patterns from the Timeless Plaid patterned paper from the January – April mini catalog. I’m a sucker for plaid patterns and I knew that I had to buy that paper as soon as I spotted it in the mini catalog.

These are the different cards that I created all using the same layout and different colors and patterns in the Timeless Plaid patterned paper. The patterns in this paper are fantastic and have lots of colors & patterns. The “B” side on each is more monochromatic, and coordinates wonderfully with the multi-colored patterns. If you haven’t noticed the paper in the catalog or in the online store, I encourage you to check it out. I hope that the people with March birthdays enjoy these cards; I sure had fun making them!
This current challenge was the inspiration for my card design. I knew that I needed to make some birthday cards, and it is always great to have some in the collection that are more masculine. I think that these plaid papers are perfect for masculine cards, and the ones with Old Olive and blue plaids totally fit the bill.
I find clean & simple cards to be kinda challenging to create. It’s tough to not keep adding stamped elements or more embellishments so it really is a challenge to me to design for a C&S look. How did I do?
Andrea, these are perfect case masculine cards! All that plaid makes me smile! So happy you joined us at The Paper layers this week!
Thanks Claire, your kind words were a great start to my day!
How different they look in different colours. There’s definitely a good masculine vibe happening with them all. Great layout! Thanks for joining in with my CAS Masculine Challenge at The Paper Players this week.
Thanks Jan! I really like the different plaids in the paper and enjoyed using several for the challenge.
This is a great CAS design Andrea and a lovely way to showcase those plaid papers. Perfect for multiples too and great for men of all ages. Thanks for playing along with us over at The Paper Players this week!
Thanks so much Joanne – it was fun to create for the challenge!
