I made this card last October during an online creativity event that I attended. This card had several options for color scheme depending on the season. Since it was Fall at the time, I went with this color scheme. I actually think that these colors are fine for any time of year, but they do have a bit of a Fall vibe. The other color combinations included:

  • Spring: Granny Apple Green, Fresh Freesia, Balmy Blue
  • Summer: Granny Apple Green, Melon Mambo, Smoky Slate
  • Winter (Christmas): Garden Green, Real Red, Boho Blue

I shared another card here featuring the same stamp set. Like that card, I used a marker to fill in the centers of the flowers because I really don’t want to have green flower centers. In this case I used a Blackberry Bliss marker, which is a great contrast with the Crushed Curry flowers.

This card is different because the part that actually opens for a greeting is the Crushed Curry piece with the stamped bottle and flowers. The Old Olive portion is a single layer for the base with matted DSP and an embossed pocked that is glued on the edges. Here’s how the card looks opened:

The inside greeting is quite large, so there’s really only space for a signature. However, there are options for a longer note. One way is to write on the back of the Crushed Curry card, and another is to use a Post-It note for your greeting. The nice thing about a Post-It is that the card could then be re-used by the recipient. It’s the best way to reduce-recycle-reuse!

If you want to replicate this pocket card, here are the cardstock cutting dimensions:

  • Old Olive: 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″, 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ (for the pocket)
  • Patterned Paper: 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Crushed Curry: 3″ x 8″, scored at 4″
  • Basic White: 2 pieces 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″, scrap

To create the pocket, emboss the 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ piece and then cut in half diagonally. You will only use 1 of the pieces after cutting. That’s really the only tricky bit – oh and make sure that your adhesive is tight to the edge of the pocket. Otherwise there won’t be enough space for the card to fit in.

I hope you’ll try out one of these easy, and interesting cards!
