Pumpkin Birthday

Last week I made a batch of 25 of these cards for the church birthday ministry. The coordinator needed a few to finish out the month of October and she has enough to get her at least half-way through November. This card with Fall colors and pumpkins seem perfect to me for birthday celebrations this time of year. I hope the recipients like their cards!

I fell in love with the Painted Patch suite when I first saw the Sept – Dec catalog. I absolutely love Fall colors and I really like the twist in this suite with the addition of Pool Party and Bubble Bath. I also love having coordinating stencils (Stampin’ Up!® calls them ‘masks’) along with stamps and dies. It gives lots of options for coloring the stamped images. Since these also are line art stamps they can be colored with Stampin’ Blends, too. Another favorite!

This sketch from 2 weeks ago was the inspiration for my card design. I started the card when the challenge was still active, but I had many other demands on my time and couldn’t finish in time to participate while the challenge was active.

I pulled out the retired Stitched Rectangles dies to create the focal layer on my card. This set of dies is so useful that I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of them. Sometimes they are just the right element for a card. I also used a retired stamp for the birthday greeting because it is sized just perfectly for the space that I had on the focal image.

I like using my retired products along with current ones because I feel like I’m continuing to get value out of my old investment. I like feeling thrifty!
