I created this card for a demonstrator swap that I'm participating in – for this swap we are trading designs using Sale-A-Bration stamps. This fun stamp set and patterned paper (the panel for the plane) are available for a limited time this year – this set and DSP (along with a couple of other SAB items) will only be available for the first 6 weeks. Then, once these are no longer available, Stampin' Up! will have some new goodies that are available for the last several weeks. There are also several SAB goodies that are available for the duration of the promotion. I think that idea is pretty awesome!!!
I decided to use a current sketch challenge as my inspiration for my card design. I searched around on the web for a little bit and came across this goody (pictured to the right). I use sketch challenges all the time as a starting point, but what is different this time is that the challenge is currently active. I have made a crafty resolution to participate at least once a month in an active challenge. I know it doesn't seem like much, but I'm hoping that will be a good balance in a goal between achievability and doing something new.
And, also to show that I still have old habits, I pulled out an old color challenge for this card. A couple of the colors are retired, so I had to make a couple of substitutions. Smoky Slate is standing in for Going Gray, and Pear Pizzazz is replacing Certainly Celery. I think that this color combo has a nice masculine feel that goes well with the airplane image in the stamp set.
