I made up a batch of these cards to add to my stash of Holiday cards for this year. I think the Thinking Thanks & Peace stamp set is one of the hidden gems from the July – December mini catalog. If you have a hard copy, you can see the set on page 62. I love the (mostly) large greetings that are great for this season, and “Thinking of You” is great year-round. I do have to say that I’m a little stumped by the wee “Boo” image. It’s totally cute, but it really stands out due to its’ diminutive size compared to the other greetings. Anyhow… sometimes an over-sized greeting is just what you need for a card. Add some pretty paper and some texture and you have a winner of a card. I added some sequins and filled in the dove with Shimmery Crystal Effects to step the card up a bit. I think the folks that receive this card this year will enjoy it.

I used this older sketch as the inspiration for my card design. It has a nice, large focal panel which was absolutely perfect for my greeting. Some patterned paper for the gray layer in the sketch, and an embossed layer on the right add some interest to the card. I didn’t include the “any shape” element because I didn’t want to detract from the focus on the greeting.

I do want to call your attention to the patterned paper on the left. This is a design from the “You’re a Peach” pack of 12″ x 12″ paper. The floral images on those papers wouldn’t make you think of a Holiday card, but the blue stripes are just what I wanted for this card. I know I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating – look at the papers that you have because you may find something unexpected that will work perfectly for your project.
