I love this stamp set and the opportunity to pull out my Stampin’ Blends for some coloring. This cluster of succulents also pretty much demands using a bunch of different colors/shades so that you can clearly see the different plants in the bunch. This is the first time that I’ve used this image in the stamp set, so I had to experiment a bit with coloring it. I did figure out very quickly that coloring all of the plants with the same 3 colors makes the image seem very flat and the plants don’t stand out from each other. So, I went back to my collection of blends and pulled out a bunch of different colors. I also did look at other card samples online to get an idea from images of cards that I liked. I quickly figured out that lots of color was the key to getting something that I liked. What do you think?

This current sketch challenge was the inspiration for me to create this card. I think that the diagonal orientation of the succulents and the slightly offset greeting meet the spirit of the sketch. I spent some time looking at my catalog to figure out what I wanted to do. I considered individual stamped flowers, a spray of diecut flowers or leaves, and decided on a less literal interpretation of the sketch.

I really like the variety of challenges that the Global Design Project offers, and I’m glad to participate in the current sketch challenge. And I’m looking forward to seeing what the challenge is next week!
