using a dryer sheet

Who the heck would have thought of using something as simple as a dryer sheet in paper crafting? I don't know the answer to that question, but someone came up with the brilliant idea several years ago, and I love it every time I give it a try. In the past I've always used a pine tree image like the one in Lovely as a Tree, so I decided to give it a try with some snowflakes to see how I like it. And, predictably enough, I think it's pretty awesome! Of course, as always when photographing glittery things, the picture doesn't give the full impression of how sparkly the result is (in fact, this picture isn't sparkly at all ). You'll just have to try it yourself to really see how cool it is.

I got the color inspiration for this card from my favorite color challenge site. I actually even managed to get my project together before the time for the challenge ran out… that doesn't happen very often! I don't have any Cool Caribbean products any more because that color retired a while ago, so I substituted Pool Party instead.  I think it's close enough for the challenge – what do you think?

I used the following supplies to complete this project:

• Stamps: Snow Swirled
• Cardstock: Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point, Midnight Muse, Pool Party, Whisper White
• Ink: Midnight Muse, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise
• Accessories: Metallic brad, Multi-Purpose adhesive sheets, Northern Flurry embossing folder, Finishing Touches Edgelit die, Snow Flurry Bigz die, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Comfort Café DSP

If you want to try the dryer sheet technique, here is how you do it:

1. Cut neutral cardstock to the size that you need for your project
2. Stamp images onto the cardstock with Classic ink as you normally would.
3. Cut a piece of the adhesive sheet to the same size as the stamped piece.
4. Peel off the backing from the adhesive and adhere it over the stamped piece, covering it entirely.
5. Peel off the other paper on the top of the adhesive; pull back gently so the adhesive stays on the cardstock.
6. Lay the dryer sheet (it has to be a used dryer sheet) over the top of the adhesive and press down.
7. Cover the dryer sheet with glitter and shake off any excess.
8. Use the panel in your project and enjoy the shimmery beauty that you just created!
