I have several birthdays that are coming up in a couple of weeks, so I need a batch of cards to send. Since the celebrants are men and women, young and young-at-heart, I wanted to have a card that I could send to all of them. The super-cute Taco Fiesta set seemed like just the ticket! This was the first set that I saw in the current mini catalog that I knew that I had to buy. I love the cute line-art images and I’m always glad to have a set that I can color with my blends. There is a nice variety of images and I’m looking forward to using more of them in a card soon. And the punny sentiments are just perfect!

Speaking of coloring… the front has the images stamped in tone-on-tone to create an interesting background. And then when you open it up you see this colored taco, with a cute mustachioed face. This card is showing off two different ways to use the imagery in this wonderful set. This set was inspired by million $ sales demonstrator Erica Cerwin. I’m so happy for her that she achieved this massive accomplishment, and I absolutely love the stamp set that she helped design. Sadly, it seems like the vast majority of million $ achiever sets have a very short life span – 1 catalog and done. I really hope that the set sticks around for a while!

This current sketch challenge was the inspiration for my card design. I put together the card front yesterday and I needed to let it “sit” over night so I could decide if I needed to do more. This morning I decided that adding more to the front would detract from the cute background images so I decided to leave it as is. Adding a panel inside with a colored taco allowed me to have fun coloring without overwhelming the balance on the front of the card. I’m pretty pleased with how this one turned out – what do you think?
