designer_paper_flower_squaresLast week was a very light week for blogging for me; please accept my apologies. I was very wrapped up in helping my son get organized, packed and dropped off for his semester in Montréal that I didn't have mental bandwidth for much else. I'm happy to report that he is now installed in his dorm and starting his first day of classes today. Now I should be able to return to some semblance of normality – I hope!

I'm really trying to use more patterned paper on my cards in an effort to get beyond my hoarding tendencies. I have a CD with a variety of creations using DSP and I decided to try out this one. It is really quite easy and it is a great way to get a bunch of different paper patterns onto your card. The "petals" are made out of squares cut in different sizes and two corners are punched on each layer. I adhered the center point of the square pieces using a glue dot and the outer edges are popped out using dimensionals. This may be a card that has to be delivered in person because it is a little on the thick side. I do like the dimension here, and I had fun looking at different combinations of papers to make up the petals. I used a retired button to make the center of the "flower", but you could definitely use buttons that are currently available (I just don't own any yet).
