This is the second (simpler) card that I created for the Cards for Cancer stamp-a-stack event. I tried to design this card so that people could follow the printed directions that I created and mostly do it on their own. Also, most of the attendees at the stamp-a-stack have some experience and they frequently figure things out on their own. Also, stampers being the awesome folk that they are – you can rely on them helping each other out. It really is fun to watch people step in and help out in this way.
I used a couple of past challenges for this creation. The first is this pretty color combination from a few years ago. More Mustard was removed from the Stampin' Up! color palette with the last color renovation a few years ago, but the 2015-2017 In Colors include Delightful Dijon which is a very close approximation. I really like these colors together, and other than missing More Mustard, I can't fathom why I haven't done something with this combo before. I did take a slight liberty and substituted Crumb Cake instead of Whisper White when I created this card. I wanted a softer/more muted look, and I thought that these colors against a white card base would be too stark.
The other past challenge that I leveraged for this card is a sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches. You can see here that I really didn't deviate much at all from the sketch layout other than the matted panel being a bit larger than in the sketch. I wanted to have more of that awesome honeycomb embossing to show up so I went a bit bigger, and I am quite happy with the result.
This card features several products that are on the Stampin' Up! retirement list. Both of the stamp sets, the embossing folder and the coordinating punches for the flower are all retiring. In fact, the Honeycomb embossing folder is even available at a reduced price now! If you want to purchase any of these items, use the link in my blog to get to my online store to shop from the retirement list. You can combine Clearance Rack items in your cart too, so you can really get some bargains.
