This weekend was a cold one, and with the Holidays over I had some extra time for crafting. It was the perfect way to spend some time when it was so blustery outside. It was also nice to pull out a stamp set that I purchased a couple of months ago, but hadn’t gotten around to inking up yet. I was drawn to the “Among the Swallows” background stamp when it was released in November as part of a group of Online Exclusives. I like incorporating background stamps in my designs but I sometimes forget about them and they don’t get as much love as they should. If you haven’t checked out this particular stamp set, I encourage you to check it out. There’s lots of possibilities with the images and the online store shows a couple of great ideas. For my card I went super-simple with an inked tone-on-tone look. What do you think?

This color challenge was the inspiration for my card. These colors scream doing something wintery, or with a Hannukah theme but I decided to go in a different direction. My card will be great for any time of year, and blues are among my favorite colors so this combo is right up my alley.

I broke out some products from another vendor for the greeting on my card. I purchased a foiling machine last year and haven’t played with it very much at all. Recently I acquired some pre-printed greetings that are meant to be foiled and I broke out one of those to give it all a try. You’ll notice that I have two cards in my photo, the only difference is the look of the greeting. There is a cool product for the foiling system that is solid foiling medium so you can use the negative from an image that was foiled. In this case I started with the silver foiled greeting, and then did the second so that the background around the greeting is silver and the greeting is white. It is super-cool!
