I designed two cards based on the same card sketch for the October meeting of the Essex stamp club group. This was the first card that we did which was a teeny tiny bit fussier to create. I was hoping to show the ladies that you can create something that looks quite different even though the general layout is the same. This way when you have a design that you like, you can use it over and over again and get very different looks each time.
This card sketch was the basis for the two designs (you’ll see it again real soon). I like the simplicity of the layout, and I was happy to have the potential for a large background to stamp to create a beautiful creation.
The “tricky” aspect of this card was stamping onto glossy white card-stock for the background panel. It isn’t hard per-se, but you do have to be careful because the stamps tend to slip a bit on the slick surface of the paper. We also had to take a bit longer with this card to allow the leaf images to dry before putting the card together. Another trick that we did on this card was sponging on a layer of light green ink on the glossy paper before stamping the leaves to soften the look of the background panel.
