Will the crazy storms never end?

I just found out about the storm that has wracked Nome, Alaska, which joins the litany of epic storms that have hit the US this year.  In Vermont, we saw first hand the ravages of Mother Nature in August when we were hit by tropical storm Irene.  A friend of mine manages the food shelf in Waterbury and she has described to me the devastation in their community and the impacts that it has had and will continue to have for a long time.  She had to relocate all of the food into a tractor trailer while the building housing the food shelf was repaired to remove the water damage and fix the places that are growing mold due to the moisture.  I am happy to report that people all around the state and beyond have rallied to help out in the community, and I hope that the people of Nome are as fortunate and resilient as my fellow Vermonters have proven to be.

The storms in Nome prompted me to think of my friend, and since we still have a wee bit of foliage on our trees, I thought this would be a nice card to give to her.
