The stamping blog-o-sphere has been all abuzz with the “floating frame” technique. This card is my first attempt. Actually it took me 3 tries at this design to get something that I was happy with. A brilliant non-Stampin’ Up! You Tuber shared a video of this technique, and we’ve been going nuts reproducing it with our products. All you need is stamps with coordinating dies, a shaped die for the center opening, and dimensionals. The secret sauce is Glad Press ‘N Seal to get the layout just right.
This technique creates two cards (stay tuned for the second one), and the South Burlington stamp club group made the cards at their meeting this week. We were a very small crowd, and it was kinda good because it took us a while to get all the needed images stamped and die-cut. The heavy lifting was for this card (the first one we did). Thankfully the gals liked the look of the finished products, so I’m quite pleased that I showed them the technique.
All of the die cut pieces are raised with Dimensionals (or pieces of Dimensionals). The colored dots that you see are pearls of various sizes that have been colored with the Granny Apple Green Light Stampin’ Blends marker. I absolutely love that we can alter these basic embellishments to create accents that coordinate perfectly with the colors in our creations.
