When I created the birthday cards for February for the church ministry I over-shot the amount needed, which ended up being a real blessing. I hadn’t created enough to fully cover March as well, but it gave me a little breathing room before I had to have some additional cards ready for this month. This is the card that I created to fulfill the # of cards needed for March.
I’ve had the super-cute Turtle Friends bundle for a couple of months now, and it was great to finally break it out and use it. I love the turtle images and they are absolutely perfect for coloring with the Stampin’ Blends. I didn’t use the coordinating punch on this card, but I look forward to using it real soon. The sentiment that I stamped on the large turtle shell even made my husband groan, and he’s a lover of puns! I’m not a pun-ster, but I thought it would bring a smile to the March birthday folk this month. I also broke into my massive stash of retired patterned papers to use some of the Tropical Escape papers. The greens on these papers and the designs seemed perfect to partner with the turtles. I love getting to use even a small portion of my retired papers for a good cause!
I loosely used this sketch as the layout inspiration for my card. I upped the vertical strips to 4 instead of 3 so I could get some more pretty paper designs on the card. Also, the stamped art layer is a little larger than the inspiration sketch. Both of these are really very minor tweaks on the design, and I think you can easily see the sketch inspiration in my card.
