Aren’t the stamped typewriter and the fun cherry patterned paper just too stinkin’ cute?!? I’m enjoying the funky patterns in the Sunny Days paper that is one of the free Sale-A-Bration offerings. I used a few of the designs for my Filled with Happiness class that I announced last week here. There are some neat patterns, and it’s great to use them for a lift during the dark days of Winter. I especially love the rainbows which I haven’t used yet – I think that paper would be great paired with the Just My Type stamps, too.
My card is actually a matchbook card which isn’t obvious when it is closed. Once you see it opened, you can see what I mean. In this case I went with a horizontal layout with the holding flap on the right. It’s been a long time since I’ve made one of these cards, and they are a bunch of fun. I created this one for an online challenge for this style of card. It’s fun to dust off some of the old layouts and revitalize them with new papers and stamps. I’ve had the Just My Type stamp set for a couple of months, and this is the first time that I’ve inked any of them. These fun, funky images are great for so many occasions – I encourage you to check them out in the Annual catalog if you’ve missed them.
I’m sure you can find tutorials online for a matchbook card. If you want to try one of these cards, here are the measurements that I used for mine:
- Poppy Parade: 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ for the card base
- Pebbled Path: 4″ x 10 3/4″ scored at 1″ and 6 1/4″
- Patterned Paper:
- 3 3/4″ x 4 1/4″ – main card front
- 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ – holding flap
- Smoky Slate:
- 3″ x 3″ – Deckled Circle diecut
- 3 3/4″ x 4 1/4″ – inside mat
- Basic White:
- 2 1/2″ x 3 1/4″ – stamped typewriter – after stamping the image is fussy-cut
- 3 1/2″ x 3 7/8″ – inside
