I made this card months ago as a sample for the Open House event that I had back in August. The theme is definitely fall/Thanksgiving, so I've been waiting to share it until the timing was just right. I broke out the Autumn Accents die that came out last year in the Holiday catalog to create the leafy background on the matted panel. One gal who attended the event was surprised to see turquoise used on a fall card, but she really liked the look. I can't take credit for the color combination; I went out to my favorite color combo site for inspiration for this card.
The color combination is a year old now, but it is still wonderful for some fall themed cards. I love how the turqoise pops in comparison with the other traditional fall colors.
Technique tip: I used sponge daubers to create the multi-color image on the stamped wreath. I inked it up with the lightest ink first (Old Olive) in the normal way. Then, I rubbed a dauber separately in the other two inks and applied to the stamp to create the darker rust and brown spots on the wreath. It is really easy to do, and solid image stamps are perfect for this technique.
I used the following materials to make this card:
- Stamps: Wonderful Wreath
- Cardstock: Cajun Craze, Tempting Turquoise, Soft Suede, Old Olive, Whisper White
- Ink: Soft Suede, Cajun Craze, Old Olive
- Accessories: Expression Thinlets die, Circles Framelits die, Soft Suede 3/8" Taffeta ribbon, Square Lattice embossing folder, Autumn Accents Bigz die
