starburst_valentineWe made this card at the January stamp club meeting. One of the members requested Valentine cards for that meeting, and I was happy to oblige. This card is nice and quick to put together, but it certainly doesn't look like you skimped on the effort at all. I love the little extras here, like the scalloped Early Espresso accent and the embossed cross stitch look just above it.

I confess that I'm not a big purchaser of Valentine stamp sets; Valentine's Day always seems to creep up on me because I'm so focused on the end of year holidays and just plain need a breather after all that hubbub. So, to honor the request from the club member I looked at the various stamps that I have and got a little creative in combining them to create cards suitable for the holiday. I was really happy that I was able to incorporate one of the new Occasions Mini sets in this card – aren't those starbursts just plain fun?

For this card, I busted out a color challenge from last year. I absolutely LOVE this color combo for Valentine cards. It's doesn't include the usual red, but it definitely feels like a Valentine color scheme.

I used the following supplies to make this card:

  • Stamps: Seasonal Sayings, Starburst Sayings
  • Cardstock: Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla
  • Ink: Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple
  • Accessories: Starburst Framelits dies, Subtles DSP, Needlepoint Border embossing folder, Large Scallop Edgelits
