I made this card last week, working in stages and letting it marinate in my brain for a bit before moving on to the next step. This card is not complicated, but it took me days to finally get it all done. I knew that I wanted a diagonal look and to use the heart stencil that I purchased a few years ago. That stencil is from another vendor and I thought long and hard before sharing here. I finally concluded that it’s ok with the rules for demonstrators and that other folks create all the time with the things that they have. I want to encourage that and give ideas (occasionally) that include items that aren’t from Stampin’ Up!â„¢ since they can’t possibly offer everything out there. So please feel free to dig into your stash and combine the things that you have to create something that you love.

This angled picture of the lower portion of the card shows that it has a shimmery look. For this card I cut a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ panel of Pretty in Pink cardstock and used the layering stencil to create the heart pattern that you see here. I used 2 colors with the stencil – Pretty in Pink for the full heart shape and Real Red for the patterns that are on each heart. Then I cut it at an angle – 1″ from the top right and 1 3/4″ from the top left.

To make it sparkle I pulled out my Frost White Shimmer Paint from my retired products collection. I combined a few drops with some alcohol in a Stampin’ Spritzer to create my own shimmer mist. The Spritzer is fantastic for spraying a very fine mist over a project. For this card I spritzed the two parts of the Pretty in Pink panel that I had cut on the diagonal. The alcohol evaporates pretty quickly and the paper has a beautiful shimmery touch. The shimmer shows up as you move the paper around so that light will catch the shimmer. It really is beautiful and it still allows the underlying pattern to show through. It’s like I created my own specialty paper with ink and paper!😊
