I hope you don’t mind the Game of Thrones reference – here in Vermont it really does seem appropriate every year. The outdoor thermometer has definitely been down the last few days at our house. I hope that we get at least one more round of balmy days before we’re pulling out the Winter coats for several months. The sky is certainly gorgeous with day after day of clear blue, but there is definitely a bite in the air. Given that, I didn’t feel too awfully strange creating my “Winter” themed card with the Life is Beautiful set. With the circle die cut it’s almost like you’re looking through a round window at a snowy outdoor scene. One thing that the picture doesn’t pick up is the bit of glisten on the snowflakes that I added with the Clear Wink of Stella – it is very pretty IRL. I also used my Seaside Spray Stampin’ Blends to color the rhinestones lightly blue. It isn’t obvious, but it does help them to blend a little more among the snowflakes.
I drew my design inspiration for this card from the current challenge from Freshly Made Sketches. The larger circle on my card isn’t as huge as the sketch, but I think you can still see the design in my finished card. I thought about adding some more elements, but I think that the plaid paper adds enough and if I did more it would overpower the card. What do you think?
That’s a gorgeous tree! I love how you have it peeking through the circle cut out of plaid paper! Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.
Thank you so much Kim – I had a lot of of fun with the challenge!
