I created a large batch of cards like this one for the May birthday card ministry at our church. I used a sheet of the Delightful Floral patterned paper, coordinating cardstock and ribbon to create this card design. With a single sheet of the 12×12″ paper I was able to create 12 cards with very little waste, which appeals to my frugal nature. The important thing with this card design is to use patterned paper that doesn’t have a clear direction. This is because I cut a piece of DSP to be 5 1/4″ x 4″ and then cut on the diagonal for the bottom left part of the design. However, if there is directionality to the pattern then 2 cards with mirror design would work.
The Delightful Floral patterned paper is an on-line exclusive and you really should check it out. The colors absolutely pop and it coordinates wonderfully with the Translucent Florals stamps and dies. I adore this paper and may purchase another pack so I have even more of it!
For the card ministry I also made 12 cards using this patterned paper and coordinating colors. This is another pattern in the Delightful Floral DSP and it’s another stunner! You may have noticed the little tab on the left side of the stamped greeting layer. For both of my cards I pulled out some retired ribbon to create the tab. It’s 2″ of ribbon folded in half and attached to the card. You don’t need lots of ribbon to add a touch of something extra to a card. I fiddled a bit trying different approaches with ribbon and then I remembered that I had done this before and decided to try it again. It’s great to re-visit something that I have forgotten about and bring it back – even something small like a way to use a small quantity of ribbon.
This sketch design from a couple of months ago was the inspiration for my card layout. Normally cutting on a diagonal can be wasteful, but doing cards in pairs allowed me to maximize my paper usage.
You may recognize this greeting because I’ve shared a card before using it. This stamp is part of the March paper pumpkin kit. I hold onto these stamps and use them over an over, and they are very useful.
