This is the card that I created for the October birthday celebrants at our church. Every month the need to create a batch of cards sneaks up on me and I almost always end up having to scramble to pull a batch together so that the wonderful card senders have what they need to send love to the folks with birthdays at the beginning of the month. This month was especially bad because I was away on a work trip to Wisconsin last week, and I needed the weekend to recover from an intense week. So I had to come up with a card design to make 26 cards quickly so I could drop them off on time. This is the card design that I came up featuring a strong fall feel which seems perfect for October. I pulled out the retired Come to Gather patterned paper and used a piece at the bottom of the greeting panel. There are some great patterns in that paper pack and I’m always glad to use some of the massive quantity of retired paper that I have on hand.
One thing that I did a little differently with this card was to stamp randomly on the background Calypso Coral layer. This card that I shared last week reminded me of this “technique”. I use quotes because it doesn’t really feel like a technique to me, but I can’t come up with something better. Stamping tone-on-tone can be a great way to create you own interesting paper that fits perfectly with the theme and color scheme that you need for your project. This added a bit of time to the project to stamp on 26 of these papers and I like the additional visual interest is worth it.
