This is the last card that I created for the gift bag card collection that I shared here. I’ve managed to fill this week with posts about this card collection and I hope that you’ve enjoyed them. Is it helpful that I’ve shared the measurements for the cards? If it is, I’ll try to do that more often in the future.
This card is a little more involved than it seems at first glance. I stamped and diecut the Noel image from the Joy of Noel stamp set – easy peasy. Then I diecut two more layers of unstamped white cardstock and glued those behind the letters to create thicker letters that adds dimension to the greeting layer. That is the part of this card that is a bit more involved. It adds a little time, but I appreciate the visual interest that it adds to the card. Like the second card, I used a coverplate die from another vendor. This one has interlocking fans and it also looks a little like a squat, plump ornament. Do you see it right below the E-L in the Noel greeting?
This is the card layout that I used for the inspiration for my card. I dropped the “Any Shape” diecut and changed the focal layer to be much shorter to match the “NOEL” greeting. This design is perfect for a clean & simple look as well as the ability to feature some pretty patterned paper. I’ve looked online and it seems that the Shining Christmas paper is sold out, but there are lots of other great Holiday papers that you could use to re-create this card. And of course, you can dig into your stash of papers that you’ve purchased in the past. Here are the cutting measurements:
- Basic White Thick: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
- Real Red: 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″
- Basic White: 5″ x 3 3/4″, 1″ x 3 3/4″ (layer behind NOEL), 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ (NOEL letters)
- Shining Christmas DSP: 2″ x 3 3/4″
- More Dazzling: 1/8″ x 6″ (trimmed after it is glued to white/DSP layer)
- Mossy Meadow: 1 1/8″ x 3 7/8″
As I said, this layout is pretty easy to use for a card layout. I’m already thinking about a card design with the Trucking Along bundle, and I’m thrilled that it’s back in stock! Maybe I’ll work on some this weekend and share with you soon.
