I needed a batch of thank you cards so I got busy over the weekend making several of this card. I had some time to create and I really felt like doing some coloring. The flower cluster in the Spotlight on Nature is perfect for a bit of coloring without being too big and overwhelming. I think that this image is absolutely stunning against a white background with faint text. I think that this bundle has been hugely popular since it came out almost a year ago. It and the coordinating circle dies has been out of stock multiple times over the last year. I hope that Stampin’ Up!™ keeps this one around for a long time!

I love the Elements of Text stamp set and I wanted to use it again to create an interesting background for my card. I shared another card recently that had the same circular text stamp, and I had to ink it up again. This time around I inked it up with Gray Granite ink that I stamped off before stamping on the white panel. This is one of the most basic stamping techniques; you can get gradients of color just by stamping on scrap paper once or twice before stamping on your project. This way I was able to get a subtle text background that didn’t conflict with the colored flowers.

Speaking of the subtle text background… it may not look like it, but I stamped the flowers directly over the stamped text. The Stampin’ Blends coloring over the faint text makes it look like the I masked the flower. Because the text is faint enough and the colors I used to color are dark enough, you can’t see the text unless you look really closely. Because of this, the card was really simple to create and it wasn’t too fussy.

I shopped my stash for the embellishments that I used on my card, so you won’t see them in the supply list. We all have a bunch of older things that we love, and I’m going to use that stuff along with new stuff. I recently asked a question here about limiting myself to only current stuff and the response was consistent. People said that they have a bunch of old stuff, and this is how they craft – using what they have. So its good to show an extended life of older products so people can be inspired to use what they have, and maybe see additional uses for new things, too.
