I shared recently my swap creation that I made with the Splendid Thoughts stamp set (you can see the post here). In that post I mentioned that I had purchased the suite so that I could participate in a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator-only creative event; this is the first card that we made during the event and I really love its softness and how quickly it can be made. It uses several of the items from the suite and I think it really highlights the versatility of the products. I especially enjoy the gentle touch that the Soft Sea Foam seam binding adds; it isn’t bold and standout-y but it adds a tidge of shine and texture to the card. The offset “B” side of the patterned paper behind the main panel is another subtlety that adds to the balance of this card.
I do want to share how I created that ombrè background on the main panel because it really is very quick and easy. All we did was use the Stampin’ Blends swiping the brush tip from side to side. The lighter shade of 2 colors are at the top and bottom and the darker shade is toward the middle and slightly overlaps the lighter colors. You can color more to achieve more blending, but the idea was to create a sort of watercolor-esque look without needing watercolor paper and working quickly. Then I stamped the bee image with the corresponding ink a couple of times on each section (I didn’t think much about the width of the middle panel or you would see more of the upper Fresh Freesia bee – doh!).
Stay tuned to see more cards from the Splendid Day Suite – those Stampin’ Up! designers are really amazing!
