This is the other card that the school group created at the recent gathering. This was actually the first one that the group made because it was a teeny bit simpler than the one I shared here. I didn’t know how much experience any of the participants would have, so I wanted to make it easy and stress-free for them. I prepared all of the materials, including embossing the Balmy Blue layer and diecutting the white stitched rectangle. This way all they had to do was stamp on the white layer and assemble. We also had limited time, so I didn’t want people having to wait for the machine to do the embossing and diecutting themselves. I’m so glad that I did this because the group was able to complete both cards in 1 hour which was the amount of time allotted.
I used this very old sketch as the inspiration for my card design. I did drop the “Any Shape” element because I didn’t want to cover any more of the pretty paper and I wanted to keep it simple for the group. I did experiment with a small die cut snowflake but felt that it distracted more from the flow of the card than it added. I do believe that the patterned paper that I used is no longer available, but you could reproduce this look with other paper that you have on hand. In fact, the Texture Chic Specialty DSP has a pretty pattern that includes snowflakes. The color scheme is different and will have a different feel that I’m sure will be lovely with some pretty stamped snowflakes. You could substitute a Soft Succulent layer instead of the white and add embossed snowflakes with white embossing powder. I bet it would be gorgeous!
I hope that the group enjoyed their creative time with me, and the recipients of their cards appreciated their hard work. I do want to share one cool thing that the group did – after they finished the card they each showed the group how they changed it up a bit to make it their own. They embraced the creativity aspect of the event and had fun – I loved it!
