I really like the Fresh as a Daisy suite in the catalog (you can see it here in the store). The patterned paper is lovely and features ALL of the 2023-25 In Colors, and the gems are a great embellishment. I haven’t used the stamp set very much yet so I wanted to use it for a batch of cards. A while ago I shared a tip that the line art images don’t have to be stamped with black ink, and for this card I used Crushed Curry ink. I really like the softer look of these flowers, and I’m glad that I used this tip for these flowers. I’m happy to share the the solid stamps that fill in the flowers are super-easy to line up with the outline stamped image. I didn’t have to fuss at all to get these stamped flowers to align perfectly. The center stamps are also really easy, too. So this set is a big winner in my opinion!
I also haven’t used the Charming Sentiments set very much either. In fact, this is the first time that I’ve used the coordinating Sentiment Silhouettes dies. This was a bundle in the previous catalog, but now you need to purchase the parts separately. I have seen lots of stamp companies offer outline dies for sentiments and I’m glad that Stampin’ Up! now has a couple of sets like that. The other set is Wonderful Thoughts (in case you missed it in the catalog). Of course you can use the sentiments as we always have, it’s just nice to have the option to diecut them with a tight outline. Choices are wonderful!
This challenge on The Paper Players blog site was the inspiration for my card. My guide was the middle row across: feminine, die cuts and yellow. I’ve decided that having flowers and glitter paper strips are enough to make the card “feminine”. 😉Yellow can be a tricky color to work with because it can over power other colors on a card. For this card I used mostly Lemon Lolly with small parts of Crushed Curry. This helped to soften the look so it doesn’t feel like you’re looking into the sun, and you still know that yellow is the main color.
I recently shared a card here where I used the Foursquare decorative masks to create a background on the card. I did exactly the same with this card with a different stencil in the pack. I used Lemon Lolly ink for both cards, and I’m still in love with how it looks. Doing this with masks is versatile and inexpensive! I encourage you to try it out.
So pretty, Andrea. What a wonderful way to showcase this set. I love that you carried the yellow through from the background all the way to the flowers. So glad you shared this with us at the Paper Players this week
